Lada would probably have gone in the history till now if Renault did not take things in their own hands. Ever since the Russian market was open for many foreign manufactures, Lada could not ask for much compared with the competitive conditions in the local market and the car technique 3 decades old. If Renault-Nissan did not appear and they did not bring a lot of money with them, valuable expertise and solid technique , along with an experienced chief designer, Avtovaz would now only lived in the historical records.
However, the situation has now changed. Renault is managing the helm and the Russian car has finally undergoing the transformation. And the new sedan Lada Vesta is reality. The biggest achievement of Vesta is that from the presentation of the concept car to the beginning of the production, there was only one year, which has never happened in the history of the Russian Lada. About 70 percent of the components for the new model are of Russian origin. The engine, the gearbox, parts of the undercarriage diagram, which all have arrived from the factory in Tolyatti.
Steve Mattin accomplished his mission to improve the Russian car, just as he used to with the Volvo and Mercedes models. Today Lada Vesta is very attractive and it should not be ashamed to park next to other brands that give high priority to the design.
Vesta is the first model of Lada with the new design that was announced with the X-ray study since 2012. The X form is basically the hallmark of the new design as well as in the so-called nose of the vehicle, which is further emphasized by chrome moldings performed in the lower half of the bumper. A high lateral line, elongate hood and the slopping roof give the vehicle a dynamic appearance, which according to the designer inspire a sense and reliability.
The large space in the cabin is one of the main hallmarks of this compact sedan class, which is also seen in the Renault- Nissan platform and is also used for Dacia Loga, Nissan Micra and Nissan Juke, as well as for Datsum Go. The Russian preparation includes protection of the locks from freezing, measures to prevent the snow fall from the roof on the seats when opening the doors and an opportunity to safely handle the switches without removing the gloves.
The security equipment is followed by standard stability control, a driver airbag, an electronic alarm system and three headrests in the backseat. Depending on the equipment level and performances there can additionally be available: a passenger airbag, side airbags, traction control, and automatic unlocking and alarm activation in case the airbags get activated.
Lada Vesta has a 1.6 liter engine VAZ-21129 with 16 valves developing 106 hp, a 5 speed manual transmission and automatic gearbox developed together with German specialist.
Renault proved that it has a professional system of re-orienting the so-called eastern brands. What the French had achieved with Dacia, now they are attempting to do with the Russian Lada. And the special day has finally arrived. Lada Vesta has officially started in sales in the local market at the end of November, 2015
