Lada Vesta

The new sedan Lada Vesta will start mass production as of September 25, 2015 in Lada Factory in the Izhevsk. The car will be on sale from 25 November. This is certainly the first new Russian car in the last decade.

Initially, the preparations and planning for the new Lada Vesta, which basically is platform B/C, began in the middle of 2010. The production version does not differ from the concept that was presented back in 2014 and the company plans to produce 5,000 vehicles by the end of the year. Nevertheless, it is all about a significant modification of the concept car "Lada Silhouette". The sophisticated technology in the new Lada Vesta is developed along the engineers of the Renault-Nissan company. This basically means that the new model is based on the Renault-Nissan B modular architecture that actually is used in numerous Renault-Nissan models such as Nissan Juke, Dacia Logan and Renault Ménage. The Lada Vesta dimensions can be compared, for example, with the Volkswagen Polo sedan version.

The overall length of the vehicle is 173.6", the vehicle width is 69.4" and the vehicle height is 58.9". The wheelbase in the new Lada Vesta is 103.7", which guarantees the rear-seat passengers a solid comfort. The luggage capacity has 480 liters, which is quite satisfying.

Initially Lada Vesta will be equipped with engine displacement of 1.6 liters 4 Cylinder and 106 hp, while the front-wheel drive is available with 5-speed manual transmission, which is borrowed from Renault with small modifications in factory in Tolyatti. An automatic transmission is planned to be used in the future, as well as a gasoline engine of 1.6 liters (8 valves) and 87hp. In 2016, in collaboration with the French partner the vehicle will get a Nissan HR16 Engine (1.6 liters and 114 hp), which is also available in the Nissan Sentra Sedan.

Officially the sale of the new product will start as of November 25 and at the beginning the vehicles will be sold only to car dealers in 20 major Russian cities. The price will be announced later, but it is assumed that the new Lada Vesta will be sold for 6750EUR for the base model car, airbag-equipped and with stability control.

However, for the first time in the history LADA will produce two airbag-equipped vehicles with air-conditioning and audio system. The popular package adds navigation system, heated widescreen and cruise control. Lada Vesta is the first Russian serial car with ERA-GLONASS system (current Russian system of emergency response) as serial equipment. This is an automatic transmitter that in case of traffic accident will send a signal to an ERA-GLONASS operator, showing the data on the exact location, the time and the severity of the accident. Eventually, this system will become mandatory for all vehicles that are officially sold in Russia.

The production of the modified model of Lada Vesta Caravan will start during the second half of 2016. Meanwhile it is planned to begin a production of an Off-Road version of Lada Vesta Cross, which is presented as a concept car. However, a four-wheel drive option in the new Off-Road version is not excluded. It remains to be seen whether the Tolyatti factory is trying to replace the cult model Lada Niva that has been defending the honor of the Russian company for decades or not.
